I made a branch to explore this, and the results are that Arrays are faster.

This can also be verified with microbenchmarks, such as:

require "benchmark/ips"

S = Struct.new(:a, :b, :c)

Benchmark.ips do |x|
  x.report("array") { [1, 2, 3] }
  x.report("struct") { S.new(1, 2, 3) }
  x.compare!
end

# Comparison:
#                array: 13219480.0 i/s
#               struct:  4569853.5 i/s - 2.89x  (± 0.00) slower

I'm closing this issue since it seems this will not lead to performance gains.
