Hi @lonnietc

  1. How to define massive numbers of nodes? 1k or 10k or 100k or even more? What's your requirements of scales.
  2. Cannot, because pair mesh will manipulate the virtual network devices which needs privileges.

Hello,

For scaling, I was thinking to be able to minimally handle 100K but that could be much larger in the future.

Will have to think about privileges a bit as I know that SoftEther sets up VPN's to servers via TUN devices as well but they are able to do an initial install on the system at elevated privileges and then the user can start/stop it as needed. My guess is that it is running as a privileged server and just doing some type of soft switching for the activation but would have to research it much more.

Good suggestions, thanks for your feedback.

I think it's hard to support more than 100k devices currently implemention. In short, it's very challenging if the 100k devices are active and every node will maintain a huge of connections. If only part devices of the whole network are active and it's possible to support such scale. I planned to support the hibernation of inactive nodes. But I have had no time to implement it recently.
