Just thinking... Why can't we use this to load in the actual userChrome.css content?
FWIW, I tried it and it seems to be misbehaving.... But it is very likely my code, since I know practically nothing of CSS code.

They don't unfortunately. Here's a litte more info if interested.

Why can't we use this to load in the actual userChrome.css content?

I had actually been thinking about this and wasn't sure if it would be a viable approach or not. One issue with that method would be having a way to modify webextension internal UUID's. I'm not sure if it would be any worse in terms of load time or not either.

I just gave it a quick try and didn't have success either...so perhaps it's not possible
