Hey,
Unfortunately it isn't just the use of new
and delete
which would break libCello under a C++ compiler. There are lots of other subtle differences between C and C++ which appear when doing tricks like I do in libCello.
Unfortunately I don't think libCello will ever be compatible under a C++ compiler, although that was never the intention so that is okay. In C++ there are lots of features you can use to replicate the same things that Cello do.
So this is probably a wontfix.
Thanks,
Dan

Being a C++ supporter I'm a little disappointed, as even C standard committee considers C++ compatibility seriously, and even made several C99 features optional for this purpose. However this is also quite understandable as libCello is not the only library that doesn't take C++ compatibility into account.
It will be sad though that, even if there is a useful library written using libCello, no C++ project will ever be able to use it because it is just C++-incompatible.
All that said, keep up the good work.
