How is the current datasource incompatible? You should be able to wrap it in a pool of your choice. Or you can configure it yourself based on the JDBC url. This component should not pick a pooling implementation, I recommend writing a single set of e.g. JUnit @Rule definitions and use them liberally through your project. I'm happy to answer followup questions but I don't think we will act on this suggestion so I'll close the ticket, or if there is a concrete failure we can talk about that.
