Trinetra,

A few questions if you don't mind helping me troubleshoot this:

Which web server are you using?

During the installation were you presented with a form to fill with some configuration values? Did it complain at all at that point?

Did you have a mysql username/password/database created prior to running the installer?

Do your web server error logs report any errors for that time period?

Thanks for responding. HTH.
Win 7 home premium, IIS 7.5 with fastcgi.
Local mysql installation.. 5.x

I actually did more than use the installer that is broken.
I manually edited and created config.php, ran database.sql and created tables, changed the local storage setting in settings table (btw, that is another bug as the value that you give while configuring through the wizard does not get used). Then there's another bug with the admin password also not getting saved, so I manually set the md5 pwd in user.
After all this..if you try logging in, the page redirects back to login page! So frustrating..
What else can I share to help you fix this? Do let me know

I just installed WAMP on my Windows 7 server, with default settings and was able to install OpenDocMan 1.2.6.1 with no issues.

It seems like there is something strange about your server. Can you tell me what version of PHP you are using?

it almost sounds like you do not have any $_SESSION variables on your server. Could this be a setting in IIS that disables sessions global vars in PHP? Without a $_SESSION global, the installer, and opendocman, will not work.

That being said, I am not a great resource for IIS servers since every time I try to use it I end up with permissions issues that I can never over-come.

Hi,
If you're interested, I can do a screen cast and show you the bugs.
Let me know.

Yeah all my problems were to do with the session variables! I tried echoing
them but they were all blank. Not much of a php guy so I gave up and did
the manual install.
Ill recheck if there are any compatibility issues with iis 7 and let you
know.
Thanks.

Let me know how it goes. This is technically a valid bug though because if _SESSION is not available the installer should pretty much complain about that and not even allow them to attempt the installation.

We need to make sure if $_SESSION is not available, the installer will fail with a feedback message to the user.
