but...how can we deal with the problem that eNB should be connected to (MME/HSS/SGW/PGW) ?
(assume we have already installed the nextepc on the openstack, the MME/HSS/SGW/PGW must be connected in a LAN of the openstack, but eNB )

If your eNB is connected from the outside of Openstack, you may have a public interface which is attached to the openstack slice. Since some payloads of S1 messages contain IP addresses, both of eNB and EPC should be visible for each other regardless of what VM you use.

Hi,
I don't know if it would be a problem with NextEPC over OpenStack or not
but I have seen a discussion in OpenAirInterface community when someone
tried to deploy Openair-CN over OpenStack and connect to an eNB outside.
The problem with it is that OpenStack doesn't support transporting SCTP
packets over Floating IPs yet. (I haven't checked the current version of
OpenStack). The solution for that is they use VPN setup for carrying the
S1 traffic between eNBs and MME/SPGW instances.
Hope it helps. I am also going to install NextEPC over OpenStack and maybe
with OpenAirInterace as RAN.

OAI is still not stable enough... I did install that.
It is still devoid of some functions so that it will be disconnected in 5 min with internet.

I was just going to install open5gs on our local openstack (devstack) server, when I stumbled upon this thread (originally looking for recommended hardware sizing (# of cores/RAM).
Is SCTP via floating IP still an issue with current Openstack (just installed today)?

Update: I have now installed open5gs on a devstack instance. When configuring the secgrp rules, I had to manually enter the protocol number (132) for SCTP, since otherwise only ICMP/TCP/UDP was selectable. It seems to have been accepted, I will try to test it today.

I have the same issue and following your method of manually introducing the scpt protocol (132) I cannot solve it.
Do you have any update on your test? Were you able to connect Open5Gs within openstack?

@agabilondo011 I haven't gotten around to switching our ENB over to the new openstack instance yet. But I will update here when I do. Right now I'm struggling with creating another instance on devstack (probably a newbie issue).
