Ok, I found the problem (even if I do not use the noglob option anymore...)

The cache variables are only updated if __EXECUTED_GIT_COMMAND is set to 1 in preexec_update_git_vars. But it relies on the command first argument to detect whether it is a git command. In this case, it is noglob and not git. So the cache will never update.

I figured out when I wrote this Zsh function:

# `g` will invoke `git status -s`
# `g a b c` will invoke `git a b c`
g()
{
  # Used by zsh-git-prompt
  __EXECUTED_GIT_COMMAND=1

  if (( $# == 0 )) ; then
    git status -s
  else
    git "$@"
  fi
}
compdef g=git

The problem occured because the first argument was here g, setting __EXECUTED_GIT_COMMAND manually fixed the problem.

from zsh-git-prompt.

Cache is now disabled by default (3261da4), this should automatically fix the problem (unless you really want caching)
