Right, librdata works with utf-8 only while R on windows save files on latin1 maybe. It seems you cannot control the encoding.

Would you share your file? I'm trying to craft one to reproduce the error but I can't in my case it is always reading it correctly.

@chasbas I have pushed a new version 0.2.4 that solved that error in one file. It might fix yours as well (or not, as it may be a different issue). In case you try, let me know how it goes.
