I've encountered this issue after updating some dependencies (TypeScript, Nuxt, etc.), and fixed by disabling Volar and enabling it again then restarting extension host.

Why do I need to provide a reproduction?
Reproductions make it possible for us to triage and fix issues quickly with a relatively small team. It helps us discover the source of the problem, and also can reveal assumptions you or we might be making.
What will happen?
If you've provided a reproduction, we'll remove the label and try to reproduce the issue. If we can, we'll mark it as a bug and prioritize it based on its severity and how many people we think it might affect.
If needs reproduction labeled issues don't receive any substantial activity (e.g., new comments featuring a reproduction link), we'll close them. That's not because we don't care! At any point, feel free to comment with a reproduction and we'll reopen it.

AFAIK the latest volar major version removed takeover mode, so you might actually have to re-enable your TS plugin :D
If that didn't work, a repro would help.

Quite the contrary I had to disable built-in TS plugin to get rid of similar error today. For some reason I had it enabled on my latest project, although I have takeover active everywhere else, and it started doing this.
@Pamavoc can you check instructions for Volar takeover mode? It helped me.

@Pamavoc Can you confirm that you still encounter this error in the latest VSCode Insiders Version (v1.88.0) and Volar v2.0.8? Had some issues too but using Insiders v1.88.0 solved it for me.
