Glad to hear you're learning CanFlood.
I understand you're looking for resources to create your own asset inventory in B.C.. Check out this section of the manual discussing the asset inventory which states "completing this template for a study area generally requires extensive data analysis outside the CanFlood plugin".
As far as we are aware, there are no pre-made inventories available (although there are supporting efforts underway to build Canada-wide data layers). In BC, a good starting point is Microsoft's CanadianBuildingFootprints and BC Assessment. If you're working in the LowerMainland or the Okanagan, IBI Group has constructed some inventories and we may be able to connect you with the data stewards.

The appropriate scale and elevation fields will depend on the objectives of your study (and resources available).
In the near future I'm told the flood risk assessment guidelines, which may be of some help, will be released here. In the meantime, you could contact Lisa to see if there is a draft available.
