This likely a problem with the way neon was built. With GnuTLS neon has to be configured to use an appropriate system CA bundle or for neon 0.32.4 this should work automatically. Please try cadaver 0.24/neon 0.32.4 and reopen if you still see the problem.

well i did recompile neon & cadaver with latest code, but this is irrelevant since neon did build openssl version, i am running out of time for this, this is more a debian packaging problem.

And underlying truth is that i did install the latest build of cadaver localy and that fits my current need to export data from nextcloud calendars and contacts.

i did find origin of my problem, which is fully related to gnutls and unrelated to neon build or cadaver.
problem is on debian that provides a DST_Root_CA_X3.pem which is expired. Removing this ca from my system did it.
curiously it does not affect certtool but libraries using load ca.
