Total agree.
We had use Liferay DXP a lot mixing Vaadin 8 and Angular 5 with the portlet specification using OGSi standard. It worth to look it. I believe it is more powerful because it gives more functionality like resource management, dynamic bundle activation, good API componentes specs using .bnd files, hunter-portlet communication, navigation, etc. I believe it is more high level programming and more powerful.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks interesting. The focus of this spec seems to be around building sharepoint style enterprise portals, hence the name. Many concepts are directly related to the approach describe here (namespacing, resource loading, ...) but some are also very portal specific (storing portlet preferences, portlet titles, shared runtime). I'll read deeper into this spec, when I find some time.
I've added a reference 859afe7 to the Java Portlet Specification in the "Related Techniques" area at the end of the page.
