I managed to add a callback, but still miss something. Looking at the imap-strategy, the callback should have two parameters:

var user = self._success_callback(this, imap);

However, if I try to parse them I cannot get values, e.g.:

passport.use(new ImapStrategy({host: 'my-imap-server', port : 993, tls : true,
success_callback: function(username, imapdata){
console.log('username ' + username.username); // undefined
console.log('imapdata ' + imapdata.host); // undefined
//...
return user;
} }));

What I want is to authenticate users at my imap server, and if successfull just give access to my app - I don't want to keep a local database of users, if possible.
Thanks for any help.

Was this ever resolved?

@tixxed no, I honestly did not make further tests but I did not solve

I ended up just using credential calls for imap to get similar results.
