:)

To add some Info:

I gave the mezzanine installer as an example to illustrate what I see as
the big advantage from I have as a new/casual user by using an installer

It's getting started as quickly and easily with having a running cms where
I can start creating content.
And from there making simple adjustments as easy as possible. While always
making complex settings and adjustments as required by large projects and
people working daily, with it possible, but have casual users not to fiddle
with deep details.

Templates that

  • enable me create pages and add content to them
  • have a menu
  • have a title tag
  • show the cms admin bar properly

are one big part of this

I want to put my ideas into code and contribute, let me know if youre
already working on it or if you want to assign this to me and check my work
end next week or so.

Ship richer html templates to make things easier for newbies.

As suggested by @henning https://github.com/henning, have a look at
mezzanine installer.

Mezzanine is a good example to aim at, being the major competitor in the Django arena :)
Go ahead and feel free to submit code.
I guess you're in the best position to tackle this

I agree on most point in your writeup, but I'd like to release a 0.2 version soon.
If you'd work on the template thing, with minimal changes to allow for easier startup, we can discuss further point later in your gist

Just a note: I am a bit busy with customer projects, that's why I didn't get further here. I can't promise when I'll be able to get into it and do the planned things, but try to get to it as soon as possible...

Thanks for the heads up and don't worry, I'm not in a better situation ATM
