Maybe add both of them to be one class/function, then execute these two after each other. Can only give confusing & bad examples, as I code C++ & not JS, unfortunately.

Edit1: A dirty thing could also be putting a sleep on 5000; before the code is executed?

The thing about Chrome extension APIs that they are all asynchronous (not synchronous), meaning you get response from API whenever it is ready, and the script doesn't stop because of it.

What I think I'm going to do is move the chrome.extension.onMessage.addListener to the init() wrapper function, and before that I will check if inventory has loaded or is loading.
