Maybe we could replace this rule with 2 new rules that use the same open port logic, but add the following conditions to determine the level:

  • if the grants contain any CIDR, it's a red finding
  • if the grants contain only SGs, it's a yellow warning

Both rules would be enabled in the default ruleset but this would provide flexibility as users could disable the rule where traffic stays within a VPC, if they consider this risk is acceptable in their environment. Thoughts @andresriancho ?
