After playing around with some ideas, it doesn't seem like a meaningful reduction in build size is feasible. Basically, Electron.NET already produces as small as reasonably possible version (and has since like 2019). On the .NET side of things, AOT and trimming don't really yield much of a result either. I'd imagine improvements will come eventually, as I was getting tons of trimmer warnings during the build, but certainly nothing concrete yet. The only meaningful way I can reduce the size would be to stop generating a single file executable, and work under the assumption that users would have the .NET runtime installed already, so none of that code needs to be bundled in. I think that's a bridge to far for casual users of this app, and I don't know how many people care enough about ~100MB to deal with the added hassle to installing another runtime.

Minor discovery: adding <PublishTrimmed>true</PublishTrimmed> to the projects enables trimming (that I thought was enabled by default), which drops the size of the release executable from ~160MB to ~142MB. It's not massive, but it's something!

After some more playing around, it seems like the new smaller executable has some issues. It installs just fine, but when the app is run, it just shows a blank white screen.
