Yes, compound indexes are supported automatically, for primary, unique, and ordered indexes. The indexes are detected when the table is first used.
When used with find, use a key object that includes all of the fields in the primary or unique index.
When used with query, specify conditions on the fields and if an index can be used, it will be. Generally, to be useful, you have to specify one or more fields that are at the beginning of the index.
You can look at test suite test/multipartkeys for examples of use.
