A question about this, that we're currently taking expert advice on, is whether that would make us count as a pre-moderated site overall in some way that would make the site more open to legal threats.

Add a photo option could be presented as a way to incentivize candidates/local parties to register directly. I'd add that any photo submitted will be shared widely under creative commons.
Getting high quality photos in the sharing stream will lower the effort required by local press to include candidate photos. You could require attribution of ynmp as the source as well as accounts to access high quality versions in order to bring the local press and those doing print voter guides into a stronger reciprocal sharing of updates position.

You can now upload photos, and they will be added to a private queue for moderation, so I'm going to close this.
@netclift: the photos on the site come from a variety of sources with different copyright restrictions on them, so we can't easily do that for this election, but for other uses of the codebase those sound like great ideas.
