We could also use a StaticSpinlock, just like a StaticMutex. It would hold no data, but we are able to write a static constant for initialization.
Another option is to use the lazy_static macro provided by another crate.
I am not very comfortable in making all fields of the Spinlock public.

Hmm, I really like the locks holding data, but I suppose Rust leaves us with no good choice. Static mutex without data does get the job done, so I'll close this.
