This would apply to $__ and $*__ in any situation, of course - including when matching other types or lists or not lists at all.

Something else occurred to me. Now that we have composable commands, we could have one that says "delete all occurrences of this match".

So for the above, I could do:

$ gogrep -x 'for $_, $_ := range $_ { $*d; $_++ }' -d '$*d'
bexport.go:255:2: for _, n := range exportlist { objcount++; }

The actual name of the command is up for discussion.

As an alternative, you can add another command that tells what to include.

For example, your -x pattern is for { $*_; f($x, $y); $*_ } and you only care about f() call inside a loop. User can provide -select "f($x, $y)" and only inner function call would be printed.

If it's possible to use f($*args) and then print it as f($args) or f($*args) it would be even better. :)

Yep, this doesn't make any sense given that we're doing #32 now. This issue was filed when I still thought that a trivially simple command-line UI would be enough :)
