Another relevant link: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/overview. This seems to describe every option there is for Google.

My suggestion is to limit ourselves to Google and Facebook for now and make links to every page look as compelling as possible on these platforms. This may, e.g., include wording such as "Help Ukraine via art" and showing previews of the artworks.

My understanding is that the task is actually comprised of two parts: 1) deciding what that is that we want people to see, and 2) making the platforms actually display it.

I can definitely take 2). I could also take 1) if no one else more experienced in this kind of things is ready to. After the initial iteration is done and we see the results in action, some alterations may definitely be applied.

@AlexanderPokhilenko What do you think?

OK, that's good for a start! Currently we have nobody more experienced in this kind of things... Also we will set up a Google Search Console a little bit later.
I've looked through the link and I think we should:

Here is what has been done in #69:

  • title and description standardized across pages with the new PageHead component.
  • og:title, og:description, and og:image has been added.
  • Logo metadata added to the landing page.
  • Breadcrumbs metadata added to every page.
  • Online events metadata: separate auction event for each NFT.

Here is what has not been acted upon:

  • Favicon was (mostly) fine as it is. Google’s documentations says: "A favicon isn't guaranteed in search results, even if all guidelines are met." It seems that right now Google doesn’t display favicons in search results at all.
  • Sitelinks are fully automated, best practices are already more or less met, so no action there.
  • Carousel is currently only available for courses, movies, recipes, and restaurants. It was decided not to abuse any of these categories for our purposes.
  • According to the docs, image metadata best to be embedded into the image files themselves, so it’s out of focus of this issue / pull request.
