In two versions I plan to extend meaning of --std
option to allow restricting syntax features and listing exact allowed fields of standard globals. Then something like --std=luajit-fast
could restrict them to things that can be JIT-ed.

And I suppose not just functions but also certain language features might do this as well. For example, I don't believe a dynamic closure can be JIT-ed.

It needs more tests, but on dev
branch it's currently possible to specify exactly allowed fields of globals. E.g. table.insert()
is OK but table.insertttt()
produces warning accessing undefined field 'inserttt' of global 'table'
. So, as I planned, it will be possible to define a new value for --std
option (--std=luajit_fast
) so that only jittable fields are allowed. I don't think that I'll add it myself but once I make a new release and document how to define these field lists it should be easy to make a PR for this.

Only detection of language features that can't be JIT-ed remains here, and that seems too coupled to the way LuaJIT works internally.
