The new structure will be simpler: it will just be a set of static html/css/js files. It won't come with volo. There will still be an app-stub, game-stub, and a few other UI templates. Does that help? We are pretty busy working on documentation for APIs right now, but this should come soon.

thanks. I just wanted to know whether or not volo will still used.
Is there any package manager that Mozilla recommends? volo, Yeoman, etc...

Any progress on the Son-of-Mortar?

Also curious about the new structure! I used the game stub a few times and thought it was a great simple starting point. I'd be happy to help out if manpower is the problem...

I thought I replied to this yesterday, but I guess I didn't press submit. Darn.

The app stub template was revamped a while ago: https://github.com/mozilla/mortar-app-stub/. You can see that it's just a static directory now. It does not use volo or other build tools, you can use whatever you want. A lot of people seem to love grunt, so you could check that out: http://gruntjs.com/

We are still churning about the other UI templates. We're trying to figure the right things to include, and it's taken a while to settle on something. We are a_very_ close to releasing some new templates that bundle in a new UI library based on x-tags, and a few other libs. So it's still coming.

The game template does still need to be redone, but the main thing that will just happen is the www folder will become top-level.

I'll try mortar-app-stub, thanks. The thing which really excited me for mortar templates (and which in the end didn't work that well) was integration of the storage. If mortar was the simple tool for building IndexedDB-based apps, then it would be very very cool.

And no, I don't care for the game template at all.

Thank you for your work.

+1 for the simple tool for building IndexedDB-based apps

csuwildcat avatar csuwildcat commented on May 25, 2024

@mcepl @alain-andre we have a custom element/template structure in the works that should do precisely what you want. We need to write the IndexedDB connector for it, presently it works on data without awareness of source. Depending on where we're at (I need to check in with someone), we could have that part ready for a preview next week.

@csuwldcat Lovely, and why in the world this code (even in brutally unfinished preliminary form) is not available somewhere?

@mcepl @alain-andre for IndexedDB magic, check out localForage!

Otherwise, I'll close this Issue for now, sole has since reworked the different repositories and updated the central readme here etc.
