Why would you want to switch relaxation behaviour during tests? Could you elaborate a bit on the use-case?

As workaround I would propose re-initializing the mock, but now with the relax = true parameter.

Our test classes are usually big. Some test scopes are more smoke-like and some are more strict. We do the injection on top level so the same mock instance is shared. So re-initialization is not that easy when you combine it with dependency injection frameworks, such as Koin.
