Since (the released) 0.6 version, this should no longer be the case: the cache is always active, if configured. If that is not true for you, we might be dealing with a bug.

Note though that in the case of sass, the webassets cache is not going to be very relevant anyway, at least if you are relying a lot on @import.

Instead, sass has it's own cache, which I see the sass filter currently is not using (it passes --no-cache). This is one thing that could be changed and which might help you.

I was confused. The change that enables the cache in production mode is in fact not yet released - but it will be soon. I'm assuming this is the issue here, and not a bug. Otherwise, feel free to reopen.

Again, the sass filter now using the cache may benefit you as well.

Specific further suggestions for improving performance are certainly welcome.
