😄 I'm a recent graduate from the Lighthouse Labs Full-stack Web Development bootcamp, looking for an opportunity to put my newly learned skills to work.

I've been a stay-at-home Dad for the past ten years, but with the youngest of our (three) kids now at school, I can't wait to actually have an adult conversation again! More seriously I've long held a passion for coding, for understanding how things work under the hood, and I see this as my big chance to do this stuff everyday. They say that 'if you're doing what you love it's not really work' (or something like that), well, I'm ready to put that to the test!

As most parents will probably agree, it's not easy to have too many outside interests when you're bringing up young children. I've not climbed Kilimanjaro recently or taken any SCUBA diving courses, but I do try to squeeze in a jog most days, follow the European soccer leagues and play the occasional game with the kids.

💬 Always be learning: I've been spending a lot of time with my kids at their bouldering club lately. Last week they were a little lackluster until they were given a bingo card of climbing challenges to complete... got me thinking about building a little app I'm calling Boulder Bingo! I thought this might be a good opportunity to learn Material-UI and get some practice with Redux Toolkit... should be ready soon(ish!).

🔭 I’m currently working on: a word puzzle app called Letter Ladder. Inspired by the surge in popularity of on-line puzzles and the success of Wordle, I'm currently part of a project team within the New Idea Machine framework building the app.

🌱 Latest endeavor: a great work experience opportunity with ReturnPal, a Toronto-based start-up. Front-end development using Next.js, TypeScript & shadcn/ui. This repository remains private though, as the code is proprietary.

🤔 Recent endeavor: A personal portfolio website - it was fun to play with fancy CSS and animations!

👯 Also complete: A gallery site to collate all the photos we're taking of our new puppy, using CSS (Tailwind) and NextJS.

🤔 Next up & in progress: Redux, TypeScript and GraphQL. They seem good things to learn to improve my chances of getting hired?!
