Looked at that chip a few months back. Difficult to find cheap modules that can be used on a breadboard. The patches is 1.2 mm. Have a good solution for the NRF24L01+ modules. Will do a search again and see if I can find something cheap and with 2.5 mm pitch or even 2x6 pins as NRF modules.

Software wise this chip is simular to NRF so the driver cannot be too difficult though all wireless driver are going to be moves into the Socket framework/API when I get some time over.
Cheers!

Good point -- I didn't notice the ultra compact pitch of the pins. It would be nice if someone made solderless breadboards with the 2mm and other pitches as they grow in popularity. I've done some experimenting with the Digi XBee modules, and soldering up the 2mm to 2.54mm breakout boards (40 headers on each!!) was definitely a hassle.

So far, this is the only CC1101 that I've found with 2.54mm spacing:

After a discussion about panstamp and the CC1101 I have now ordered a few CC1101 module. I think these will work fine with the Nano IO Shield. In any case it is a standard 2.54 spacing 2X4 connector with the same pin layout as the NRF24L01 module.

While waiting for the module I will take a look at refactoring an available CC1101 driver and also fix the SPI problems.
Cheers!

Received a pair of the above modules so now it is time to start working on a device driver (Socket) for the CC1101.

Please find an initial driver for the CC1101 module on the commit 1e183ae
Also contains some simple test program. These have been tested on an Arduino Nano IO Shield with a CC1101 module with the sample pinout as NRF24L01P (more or less plug-in compatible).

Cheers!
