+1. We have used a .NET SFTP add-in in the past, but that would not be an option in AL either. This would be very useful.

There is a project for an open AL library around: https://github.com/Microsoft/cal-open-library

You can create your own wrapper for ftp/sftp and add it to that library. If Microsoft accepts it, it will be added to the core product.
