There are several ways to do that in your own code :

  • enable/disable node parts depending on visibility
  • use SceneManager#getRenderableProviders() dynamically : clear the list and add only visible scenes at each frames
  • implements your own renderable provider that only provides visible renderables
  • implement your own SceneManager
  • probably some other ways

It can't be done automatically by the library (same as libGDX core) because object boundary is not always predictable : some can be animated (bones, shape keys) or transformed, etc...
