Yes, I got that too, but I think that the inclusion of the .project file is
the cause. The code will build (after updating project to JDK1.7) without
an issue.

No, that is generally a bad idea, as your classpath etc will be different
to the original dev, and mine etc.
It is far easier to ignore one little error than go through dependency hell
on strange paths!

I usually have the source in a separate directory, then I check "Copy projects into workspace" during the import. This issue also happens with sample projects from the ADT developer page so perhaps this is an ADT issue?
On the other hand, I've never run into this issue when importing Scala projects into Eclipse.
