Don't know what made you think otherwise, but we did follow the instructions on each image before getting them ready for Debian packaging. Well, some images are already within the specified dimensions or quality level from the start. So we may have skipped the redundant steps on some images. For eg, if the quality level of an image is within 90, we'd do a lossless compression instead of lossy one.

It could be me who misunderstood your instructions. But my current understanding is that y'all require a JPEG picture with the resolution 3840x2400. The currently used wallpaper, "Xplo_by_Hugo_Cliff.png" is a PNG file with resolution 2560x1600.

I didn't check other requirements or other files.

lol I just checked another completely random picture: "ubuntu_budgie_wallpaper1.jpg", this guy's resolution is 4269x2400. I do get a feeling now that we would be able to find many pictures that brake the requirements you put out as instructions. But again, maybe I have misunderstood something.

@martinanderssondotcom Well, you're right about the resolution part. 😁 When resizing some images, it's not possible to get exactly 3840x2400 size without cropping or scaling. So, in order to retain the original aspect ratio, we scale the image so that only one of the dimensions match the guideline, i.e either width is 3840 or height is 2400. But we make sure the other dimension is above the specified length, not below it. I think I should update the instructions to make it more clear.

The original image for that wallpaper is 2560x1600 in size: Link to original Xplo Wallpaper . We couldn't get a higher resolution source image for it. 😞 To prevent this issue for newer images selected from wallpaper contest, we'd usually drop images sub-4K images.
