I believe Phantomjs only produces images in PDFs not actual content?

On some systems it can work. Most likely on linux.
On mac, phantomjs outlines the text in the pdf, so it wont work on there.
Some pdf readers are able to recognize links automatically if you display the whole url.
This behaviour might have changed in phantomjs2.
