That sounds like a reasonable request, and not very difficult to do. I'll add it in as soon as I can.

I have added a logLevelFilter which you can use to do the above. Using your example:
log4js.addAppender(logLevelFilter('ERROR', fileAppender('logs/my.log')), 'my');
I wrote it this way so that I don't have to make every appender implement the log level checking. See what you think.
