Some problems with gallery about hugo-easy-gallery HOT 2 OPEN

Concerning your 2. issue:
I also noted that thumbnails haven't been displayed when including them in a {{< gallery >}} tag.

You need to adjust the path to your image:

Usually you would include a single image with:
{{< figure src="/img/figure_1-thumb.png" link="/img/figure_1.png" >}}

But when you use a gallery, you need to remove the / in the src tag:

{{< gallery >}}
   {{< figure src="img/figure_1-thumb" link="/img/figure_1.png" >}}
   {{< figure src="img/figure_2-thumb" link="/img/figure_2.png" >}}
   {{< figure src="img/figure_3-thumb" link="/img/figure_3.png" >}}
{{< /gallery >}}
