Could you print out self.FOV before making the call? I might also need to see the code used to create self.FOV.

False alarm. Still had the old api being used for the FOV! There was a type mismatch, it was getting an int for the FOV (Surprising, I thought it would be an array). I updated the import statement there to use the system wide import tcod as libtocd, now it's running smoothly.
Sorry to bother you. Thank you for your support on this library! We are open-sourcing a multiplayer roguelike soon and libtcod has been useful.

It's likely that the memory leak you're hunting is in libtcod's C code. Feel free to raise another issue for that.
