The issue with hostname > hostname is that when you next login to lxplus to read your hostname file you overwrite it. I also tend to have a few terms open with different screen sessions, so I have no guarantee the n-1 entry is really the one I want....

Sorry, I meant that I do hostname > hostname manually when I start an entry.

I would amazed if SSH'ing into 500 lxplus nodes didn't take forever. I guess you could alias screen to some clever function that writes to .screensessions with the hostname and screen session name, but… More complications.
