I would like to know:

  • Were there any parts of the workshop that you found confusing or unhelpful?
  • Were there any parts of the workshop that you would like to know about in more detail?
  • Do you feel like you have enough information to start your analysis? If not, why not?

Personally, I find the “rank each question from “agree”, “disagree” [etc]” type of questionnaires difficult to answer, and I would find reading wordier responses more informative. But, takes more time on both sides.

Oh, and I personally would have no moral or ethical objection to installing analytics on the lesson pages. Legally (I guess you mean CERN-specific?) I have no idea.

No idea about legal issues, was just wondering if anyone could think of anything. Quite happy if we conclude "none".

I like the three questions and 👍 on wordy replies.

kdungs avatar kdungs commented on August 18, 2024

The questions are good and I agree that wordy replies can provide better insights. Especially since there will only be 40 people we have a good chance of reading everything.

Personally I would also want to add one or two questions about the organisation especially regarding

  • the date wrt LHCb week other events
  • the time (spent) on each day (too little / too much / too late / too early)
  • BBQ
  • the sign up process
  • the fee

These are actually things where * - ***** ratings would be sufficient, don't you think.

How about we set up a Google Form for this?

👍 on form, are you doing it? Use the fantastic theme we had for the original questionnaire :)

betatim avatar betatim commented on August 18, 2024

Fine with me to include these five questions with a -1,0,+1 rating (or five stars if you really like granularity)

I can, remind me what theme did you use? The comic sans one, right?

Forgot what the theme is called.

Okay on second thought, I will just formulate one general question concerning the organisation. -**** ratings just don't give enough insight and I would always want an additional textbox.

Is there some way to "dump" a google form into our repo? So that it can be
re-used without typing the questions for the next round of this.

saschastahl avatar saschastahl commented on August 18, 2024

I just started going through the starter kit. I would again include, how long have people been in LHCb but I would use a finer granularity than years. Alternatively one could ask if people have done a bachelor, master etc. thesis. I can imagine that at one point one wants to split up the sessions into real beginners, semi-experienced etc...

apuignav avatar apuignav commented on August 18, 2024

So, the two forms differ in the question of the "Years in LHCb". I like @saschastahl approach on this, can @kdungs add this to his and we put it in the "Contributing" lesson?

kdungs avatar kdungs commented on August 18, 2024

Ah sorry I wanted to add this but forgot. Partly because it was not immediately clear to me how to phrase it properly.

betatim avatar betatim commented on August 18, 2024

The link to the questionnaire we will send around by email and maybe show
on a slide or so. It shouldn't be part of a lesson.

Updated the form with a question asking how long they have been doing particle physics
