Isn't the problem that you have to have your grid cert registered in your browser?
Not sure why it would need a special setup outside of CERN.

I can use it without problems from outside CERN.

Think it is accessible from everywhere, though it has the usual problem of an unsigned cert which sets off alarms in the browser.

I am sorry your arguments are not valid.
Chrome (which I consider the standard browser) does not accept outdated certs anymore. It is not a warning but the access to the page is outright denied. Which kinda makes sense.
Also any installing of grid certs into the browser is just one more additional step that creates a barrier to entry. What speaks against lhcb_bkk ? Let's at least add it as an alternative.

Can you paste the version in chrome://version/ you have? Curious why it outright denies you access and it doesn't even blink for me. (I didn't install any certs.)
I think we should not have alternatives (especially if some of them don't work for some people), so the conclusion would be to ditch the web and go for lhcb_bkk
only.

I think the problem isn't that the grid certificate isn't valid, it's the server certificate that allows for HTTPS. Chrome 43.0.2357.81 allows me to click “Advanced” and then “Proceed to $SITE”.

Yes it is the ssl cert.
I can click Advanced, too. But then I get an error 400 "No required SSL certificate was sent"
Version 43.0.2357.65 (64-bit)

That might be talking about the client (your) certificate, but I'm not 100% sure. I've had client certificate issues in the past that I fixed by clearing all cern.ch
cookies.

Email Mr Closier? I have no idea how to even start debugging if it is a client side or server side cert issue and the Grid Cert FAQ twiki is silent on that issues as well :-/

Can this be closed now @seneubert?

Ping @seneubert. The portal works for me on Chrome now.
