If you want to mine a block you should use HTTP POST as is shown in the readme.md, e.g.:
curl -X POST http://localhost:3001/mineBlock
You should also verify that you are sending the request to the "node controlling" endpoint (not the websocket endpoint that is used for p2p communication)
