Actually, wait. Two questions:

  1. The Racket GUI library is designed to use the "native" APIs and toolkits on Windows, macOS, and GNU/Linux, right? So shouldn't it be able to get the native icons from WinAPI or GTK or whatever?
  2. If we do bake our own icons, do they have to be bitmap images, or can you use SVG?

  1. No, it's abstracted away. I'd have to do something for each platform to find out where those icons would be placed. Much easier to just make our own.
  2. They can be SVG, but I'd just convert them to a bitmap anyway.

Probably keep an SVG source image (or whatever the native inkscape extension is) and export the icons we need. Perhaps this could be a build step? make icons.
