Did you remember to authenticate as a user? I did the same thing.

The default Gate that ships with Pulse allows access to non-logged-in users when the APP_ENV is set to "local".

Make sure you have updated to the latest version of Pulse.

@MarcelWeidum a gate supports unauthenticated users if the $user object is nullable.

- Gate::define('viewPulse', function (User $user) {
+ Gate::define('viewPulse', function (?User $user = null) {
    return true;
});

I did not know that Gate requires to be authenticated. I thought if I returned true the Gate will accept it.

Thanks!

Had this issue as well, I needed to add 'auth:web', to the middleware inside the pulse config file. I found that odd because for telescope/horizon I only need to add 'auth:web', to the middelwares in production, but for pulse I need to add it to dev as well otherwise I can't even see pulse on dev.

I thought pulse would completely ignore the gate when on local env but it seems not.
