LdFlagsXVars is separate from LdFlags. The former is a map, which can't easily be represented in commandline, and is the subject of that warning message. The latter should come through for you, and should still apply.

It works for me. e.g.

go run goxc.go -build-ldflags="-X main.BUILD_DATE=XmasDay_ " go-install
goxc -version

Note that ldflags has a fussy relationship with the compiler. It doesn't seem to reapply the flags replacements if there haven't been any code changes, so it's best to delete the compiled artifacts between builds.

Ah, maybe that was it (reusing artifacts if there are no code changes). I do know that the way I was specifying the flag seemed to work with generic go build ... etc

In any case, worked around it. Thanks for the reply though.
