I didn't work on the hack directly, Masked Dedede just asked me questions about hacking so I assume that's why I'm credited for it.

The reason the hack cannot be opened in DSVEdit isn't because of a bug in DSVEdit, it's presumably because the hacker specifically edited their hack to make DSVEdit unable to open it because they don't want people looking through their hack for some reason. Personally I don't like when hackers do this, so I refused requests to add this feature into DSVEdit itself. But I'm also not going to do the opposite and add the ability for DSVEdit to open hacks that have been specifically made DSVEdit-incompatible on purpose like you want (that's probably not even possible since the hacker could just change something else in a future version).

If you want to open this hack in DSVEdit, your options are to figure out what edits the hacker made on your own and revert them manually (it's going to be more than just the first 16 bytes), or ask Masked Dedede directly and try to convince them to let you edit their hack. I have no interest in looking into this.

I understand now and I didn't mean to suggest bypassing the hacker's permissions or intents to not allow me to edit. Thank you for making me aware of the situation, and the quick response @LagoLunatic
