This feature would require merging listitems using special "borders" to make it seems they are one big balloon instead they still are separated items.

I don't think that this would be a good idea. It is nice to know whether a message was sent as a single text or not. In addition you would lose the information of the time it was sent/received.

I would say this should be closed and not integrated. It is good the way it is now.

Actually the idea was to also add timestamp labels to every message. This will ensure that you will always be able to distinguish one message from another.

But then where is the point of this at all? You will add borders, which now are there as a new bubble and also the timestamp. I believe this will look strange and will only confuse people, since a new bubble is a perfect border already and clearer distinguishes the messages.

IMHO things are best the way they are now and implementing this is a waste of time.

What benefits would your suggestion bring?

It would help in group chats, where there is more people talking. Anyway this is very low priority and just a "consideration" as I stated in the issue description.

I would like this feature.
I often overlook the first message if I receive a few messages while my phone is mute.

I think individual messages can seperated with a simple string like:
"------ {timestamp} ------"

So it will be stay clearly I think.

I think this issue can be closed since you have Add block balloons for the Hangout theme #815 by @relan added.

Thanks again :-)

Or what do you think?

That's not exactly the same thing. First of all, it's featured by only one theme. I'd like to keep this here for the moment.

OK, if you like to implement it for all themes it's really a other thing :-D
