I believe it can not be done directly because it entails validation but might be possible by contacting Apple

So Kiwix as an org name has been taken by us a while back but that's when they had this weird 2FA with personal questions (e.g. Where did your parents meet, etc.) and we can not get back in / usurp that account. For all intent and purpose and as long as Apple does not decree that unused accounts older than X years old will be deleted, there is no way for us to try and recreate a Kiwix account with our regular address [email protected].

Alternative options:

• Initiate an App Transfer to another org (Association Kiwix or some such, hoping that the name proximity is not a deal breaker). I suspect we would lose any history of the app's use.
• Rename the Wikimedia CH account to Association Kiwix. I contacted Apple and they need "business or court documentation that confirms the organization's name change from Wikimedia CH to Kiwix". We do not have business or court doc as the handover was a mere handshake, but I guess we can still put an MoU into writing and get WMCH to sign it. How will Apple respond to that, however, is anyone's guess.

I'll try option 2 first and should hopefully get WMCH to sign when I meet with them in January.

That's when you get an Apple Dev membership. You decide at this time whether you want a personal account or an org one (and you provide DUNS and all).

You understand that going this road means loosing the Apps… I don't think (but I have no idea) we can transfer an app to another organization so it means Kiwix/DWDS/Wikimed will remain on WMCH account and users won't be able to update.
We would need to publish new apps with different IDs… potentially breaking apple rule (because it will be so similar and use same logo).

Uploading new versions on WMCH with message informing about new app is probably against rules (again, I don't know): otherwise, would prevent apple from banning orgs…

I think the Org rename is more aligned with what we actually want. @Popolechien where are we on this front?

Interesting ; that sounds easier: more likely that they'll accept this (standard, no surprise) than the name change. Can you prepare such a document? I believe we need to start a developer membership for that Kiwix org first. @kelson42 make sure to share/secure those new credentials
