I got the same error with PHPUnit 3.7.38.
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method Mock_CI_Form_validation_bced79d5::method() ...
It seems $this->getDouble() does not work with PHPUnit 3.7.38.
I recommend you to upgrade your PHPUnit to 4.7 or later.
If you can't upgrade, you can write your test without using methods like $this->getDouble(), $this->verifyInvoked*(). Because they are just short-cut methods for PHPUnit mocking method.

Upgrading to the latest phpunit version (4.8.3) resolved the problem.
