I got it to work. This is somehow related to how the persistent volume is mounted. I will dig deeper and report back
from csgo.

It has to do with the fuse filesystem mergerfs, which I use. The issue is similar to trapexit/mergerfs#463
It works, when the volume is on a disk directly. I will have to experiment with mount flags to get it working on the merged filesystem.
