error compiling developer version about rcppalgos HOT 4 CLOSED

Thanks for the kind words. I have been working on this for a few days now and have successfully reproduced your error. My goal was to respond when I have completely figured out a solution, but as I have not and it has been 4 days, I just wanted to let you know that you have been heard. This has been made difficult as I have limited access to Windows.

I will note that as I was developing on my machine (MacOS), I ran into this error. Here were my take aways:

• This has nothing to do with whether you have the gmp package installed from CRAN (
  https://cran.r-project.org/package=gmp).
• Installing the actual gmp (i.e. https://gmplib.org) from the command line fixed this issue.

On Mac or Linux machine, installing gmp is trivial. However, with Windows (to my limited knowledge at least), there are a few more steps involved. Here is what I found with a google search:

1. You need to install either https://cygwin.com or http://www.mingw.org
2. After you have downloaded the tar for gmp, using either of the tools above, you will be able to finish building gmp on your machine

My problem has been with step 1 as it appears that the Windows machine I'm using has some registry issues. First it was cygwin1.dll, then it was cygiconv-2.dll, etc. I have been using dependency walker to resolve these issues.

I will keep working on this and let you know what I find.

Just wanted to let you know, I'm on the verge of a new CRAN release with parallel capabilities. Once this is on CRAN, you should have no problems.
